There are moments in life that change you forever. For me, one of those moments was learning that someone who has become a dear friend is battling ALS.

When someone you care about receives a diagnosis like ALS, your first thought is simple: “What can I do to help?” For me, the answer is to walk. To stand beside them. To raise awareness. To fight for hope.

ALS is a devastating progressive disease that slowly takes away a person’s ability to walk, speak, swallow, and eventually breathe. It does not discriminate. It changes families, friendships, and lives forever. And while research has come a long way, there is still no cure.

That reality is heartbreaking.

I’m participating in Walk ALS Georgia because I refuse to let people facing this disease feel alone. I’m walking for my friend. I’m walking for every Georgian living with ALS today. I’m walking believing that one day the words “You have ALS” will no longer feel like a hopeless sentence.

ALS United of Georgia provides critical support, resources, advocacy, and care to families walking through unimaginable circumstances. This cause is now deeply personal to me, and I’m asking for your support.
