When someone you know gets diagnosed with ALS, the first thing you ask is what can I do to help? For many people like me, the answer is to participate in walkALS Georgia, which raises awareness and money to support Georgians living with ALS. This year, walkALS means more to my family than I could ever put into words  

In August of 2025, my dad, James Scott Walters, was diagnosed with ALS, and watching someone you love battle a disease like this changes you forever. 

ALS doesn’t just take away the ability to walk. It can take away the ability to speak, move, eat, breathe, and to do all of the simplest things we take for granted. On top of it all, there is no cure. For many families, the financial burden that comes with this disease can be incredibly overwhelming. From medical equipment and supplies to the everyday care and adjustments that come with the disease, on top of everything a family is already going through. 

Every dollar raised helps support Georgia residents living with ALS and their families, live as comfortably as possible until one day, we find a cure.
