Walking Beside David
This Saturday, Lorraine and I will walk in the walkALS Georgia in honor of our dear friend, David Jernigan.
I first met David through Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, when our work brought us together during his early days as CEO. What began as a professional relationship quickly grew into a friendship that I absolutely cherish. Over the years, Lorraine and I have come to know and love David for so many reasons, but especially for what he has devoted his life to: removing barriers so that others have the opportunity to realize their full potential.
Almost two years ago, David was diagnosed with ALS—a devastating disease that progressively takes away a person’s ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. Today, there is still no cure.
So this Saturday, we get to do something small but meaningful in return: walk beside David.
We’re walking to raise funds for research, to provide critical resources and support for people living with ALS and their families, and ultimately, to help create a future in which an ALS diagnosis comes with hope for a cure.
If you’re able, we would be incredibly grateful for a donation of any amount in David’s honor. Together, we can stand beside a man who has spent his life standing up for others.
