Welcome to My Personal Page
May is ALS Awareness Month—the time of year where you see those 3 letters more than usual. But for families affected by this disease, those letters are woven into the fabric of our lives forever.
Every 90 minutes. That’s how often someone hears the words “You have ALS”. That’s how often a family’s life is changed forever. I was 18 years old when these 3 letters entered my family’s life. An incredibly terrifying Google search to make. “2-5 years”. “Loss of speech, movement, and eventually the ability to breathe”.
ALS is always fatal. That’s the cruel reality. There’s no working around it, there’s no sugar coating it. No true treatment. No cure. But I have hope that one day, that story.
I ask that you join me in supporting the ALS community. Whether that’s a donation (of any size), sharing a post, joining us at walkALS, or simply telling others about these 3 letters. Spreading awareness is vital to becoming closer to more understanding, more support, and eventually a CURE.
In the words of Shy Tuna himself:
“Please educate yourself about ALS. Please have a conversation about ALS. Please care. Please give what and all you can and help us fight this.”
