For I am the Lord your God

who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you.

– Isaiah 41:13

This is the scripture our mom, Corie Denning, held close to her heart after receiving a diagnosis of ALS in July of 2021. On October 31, 2025, she peacefully went to be with the Lord, and while our hearts carry the weight of that loss, we continue to hold tightly to the promise found in this verse.

Every 90 minutes, someone learns they’ve been diagnosed with ALS. In that moment, their life is changed forever. And from that moment on, they are left to navigate an unknown future — a future living with ALS.

Our mom chose to live her life with courage and faith, navigating a journey that was sometimes funny, sometimes scary, and often frustrating, all while trusting in the Lord to guide her and our family through it. Today, we walk in her memory — honoring her strength, her faith, and the love she poured into all of us.

Every 90 minutes. That’s how often someone living with ALS loses their battle because there is no cure for this disease. As a family, we now walk forward carrying Mom’s legacy with us, leaning on God and each other as we continue to seek hope, meaning, and purpose — and as we fight for a future without ALS.

As a family, we are walking so Georgians living with ALS can get the support they need to live a full life post-diagnosis. It costs on average $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Majority of families cannot afford this, and often insurance does not cover enough of the cost of care. Walk ALS Georgia raises money to provide local care services like direct financial support, respite care, transportation services, and equipment loans to help alleviate that cost for families in Georgia. Our family has personally benefited from financial care and support from Walk ALS Georgia.

We are also walking to support research efforts into treatments and a cure so that we will see a world in which an ALS diagnosis is not fatal. Until that day, we will walk on. Join us!
