Welcome to My Personal Page
This past year ALS was once again thrown into the public eye as a well known actor, Eric Dane, lost his battle to ALS. This disease is always fatal and and hearing you or someone you know / love has ALS is devastating.
There is not much that many can do, but you can support those that are struggling with the disease, or those that have lost someone to the disease.
For us it has now been over 18 years that we lost Larry Pickett to this disease, and we continue to to participate in walkALS Georgia, which raises awareness and money to support Georgians living with ALS. It is our way to keep Larry's memory alive and to give meaning to his death. Larry was only 45 when he received his diagnosis and lost his life to ALS at age 49.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neuromuscular disease that slowly robs a person of the ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. It can strike anyone and, although there has been a lot of advancements in ALS research, we still don’t know what causes it. An ALS diagnosis is always fatal because there is no cure.
I continue to fundraise and support ALS United of GA, so that, one day, when Georgians hear the words, “You have ALS,” it will no longer mean that they likely will die within two to five years. I am fundraising so that Georgians living with ALS today know that they are not alone. I’m fundraising to assure that when they need help, they will be able to get it from ALS United of Georgia. By helping in a small way, it continues to give them hope.
You may not know anyone with ALS, but you do know me, and my story and loss, and I am asking for your support. Will you please consider joining me to make strides in the fight against ALS? You can join our team or make a gift to support our team. Either way, with your help, we can enhance the lives of people living with ALS, every day until we find a cure.
