For the past 10 years I’ve had the honor of serving as Team Captain for the ALS United of Georgia Walk with Big Mike’s Fight. This year marks 14 years since my father, “Big Mike,” was diagnosed with ALS, and your continued generosity has brought hope to our family and many others.

Together we’ve raised over $100,000 - making our team successful year after year. This momentum is why I’m reaching out again: the Atlanta Walk’s overall goal is $625,000, and our team target is $7,000. With the walk just months away on September 19, 2026, we need your help to hit, and surpass, that number!

Our team is very inclusive and anyone can be a teammate. As apart of Big Mike’s Fight, you can work towards one (or more) of the following 3 things:

1. Make a personal donation (any amount, big or small).
2. Set a fundraising goal for yourself, whether it’s $15, $50, or $500.
3. Spread the word; tell friends, family, and colleagues why this cause matters and ask them to support your goal.

Team Captain – Big Mike’s Fight

ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a relentless neuro‑degenerative disease that gradually robs a person of the ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe, and today there is no cure; the average life expectancy after diagnosis is only 2–5 years. Because research funding and support services are essential for improving quality of life and accelerating the search for a cure, our walk and fundraising efforts serve three critical purposes: they raise awareness across Georgia, they provide vital resources to individuals and families living with ALS through ALS United of Georgia, and they fuel groundbreaking research that could one day transform an ALS diagnosis from a death sentence into a manageable condition.
