Buzz Brigade – Walking for Jerry, for Georgia, for a Cure
Hello and thank you for visiting Buzz Brigade’s 2025 Walk ALS Georgia fundraising page!
We are proud to walk in memory of Jerry Travers, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2023 and passed away in June 2025. Jerry faced this disease with courage, humor, and heart—qualities that inspired everyone who knew him.
“Buzz” was Jerry’s beloved grandfather nickname and his trail name when he hiked the entire Appalachian Trail with his daughter, Bennett. Our team name is a tribute to that adventurous spirit, his deep love for family, and his alma mater, Georgia Tech—Go Jackets!
We are walking united for a cure, and we hope you'll join us. Whether you want to walk alongside us on Walk Day, donate to our cause, or support one of our team members, you're in the right place—and we're so glad you're here.
Why We Walk
Every 90 minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with ALS. And every 90 minutes, someone loses their battle with this disease.
ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a devastating, progressive neuromuscular disease with no known cause or cure. But there is hope—and that’s why we walk.
We walk so Georgians living with ALS can receive the care, equipment, and support they need to maintain quality of life. The average annual cost of ALS care is $250,000 per family, and Walk ALS Georgia raises critical funds to ease that burden. Your donation helps provide:
Direct financial assistance
Respite care
Equipment loans
Transportation services
And other vital support services through ALS United of Georgia
We also walk to fuel research toward better treatments and a cure—because an ALS diagnosis shouldn’t mean the end of hope.
Until that day, we walk on—for Jerry, for his caregivers, and for every Georgian facing ALS.
