Todd’s Troopers - Battling ALS

Dear Family and Friends,

It is said that life is a journey with its vagaries providing both the highs and the lows.  A diagnosis of ALS suddenly jolts one’s life onto a totally new, unknown and scary course; a path that is not to be taken alone.  Fortunately, many of you have rallied around Nancy and me with both physical help and messages of love and support.

Additionally, there are a number of fine organizations that provide assistance to all ALS patients and their families as they undertake this complicated journey.  One of these organizations is ALS United of Georgia For the past two years, with your assistance, Todd’s Troopers has participated in their annual fundraiser, the Walk ALS Georgia

Thank You!  Thank you!  Thank you!  With your support and generosity, last year Todd’s Troopers raised $7,500 for Walk ALS Georgia!

The funds that we raised allow ALS United of Georgia to assist Georgians living with ALS to get the support that they need to live as full a life as possible post-diagnosis.  It is a repository of relevant information and provides local care services such as direct financial support, respite care, transportation services and equipment loans to help alleviate the high cost of ALS to Georgia patients and their families.  Its support groups regularly bring together people with ALS and their caregivers for fellowship and information sharing.

In addition, funds from Walk ALS Georgia support research efforts to find both treatments and a cure so that, in the future, an ALS-diagnosis need not be fatal.  Such funding is critical at a time when governmental support is uncertain.

This year the Walk ALS Georgia will be held on September 20th at the Georgia State/Center Parc Stadium (the old Turner Field).  Registration and milling around from 8:30 – 10:00, followed by a walk (see website).  Unfortunately, I am no longer able to “walk the walk,” instead I will “drive the walk” in my power-chair.

I ask all of you to please join me in financially supporting the ALS United of Georgia fundraiser.  Building on our success in 2024, this year our goal is to raise $10,000

I thank you most sincerely for considering my appeal and your contributions,

Charles.
