IN MEMORY OF ALAN M. NICHOLS
Alan M. Nichols, age 72, of Buford, GA, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025 after a courageous battle with ALS.
Mr. Nichols was a retired Principal Consultant from Clarkston Consulting in Raleigh/Durham, NC, with 22 years of service. He was a member of the Men’s Early Bird Breakfast at the Church on the Hill in Sugar Hill, GA. He was a very talented musician, having played the guitar, clarinet, saxophone and keyboard. He could sing beautifully, loved Rock music, and played Lead Guitar in a Rock band throughout his college years.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neuromuscular disease that slowly robs a person of the ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. It can strike anyone and, although there has been a lot of advancements in ALS research, we still don’t know what causes it. An ALS diagnosis is fatal because there is no cure.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking friends & family of Alan to donate to ALS United of Georgia, so that someday - when Georgians hear the words, “You have ALS,” it will no longer mean that they likely will die within two to five years.
We hope you will join us on Saturday, September 20th at WalkALS Georgia as we walk in memory of our beloved Alan. Let's continue on his legacy and walk united against ALS, so that someday we can find a CURE.
